Hi, all. You're not going to believe this... A toilet you can wear while you sleep http://www.smh.com.au/technology/sci-tech/a-toilet-you-can-wear-while-you-sleep-20120927-26me2.html Toilet-bidet devices now in demand for growing senior market http://japandailypress.com/toilet-bidet-devices-now-in-demand-for-growing-senior-market-2713543 Strange Senior Toilet Tools – Robohelper http://www.giantrobot.com/news/strange-senior-toilet-tools-robohelper/ Quote: "A new incontinence device removes waste before cleaning and then drying the wearer while they sleep. ... a U-shaped cup fits between the wearer's legs and contains a sensor that activates a suction mechanism when triggered. Waste is moved rapidly away from the body before a bidet spray-cleans and then blow-dries the area." ![]() What do you think? It's... different. ![]() |

Yes, indeed, it is, as you say.......different! and most interesting! Good, I believe, that people are thinking about the needs of incontinence and care for incontinence. I think that incontinence has been reported as a significant factor in placing loved ones in nursing homes and.....when it comes to our pets.... incontinence plays a role in deciding when it is "time" to consider putting an aging pet to sleep. So.....making incontinence less onerous, especially for care givers, is certainly a good pursuit. Such a device could mean a loved one remaining in the home rather than being forced to make a major life changing move into the (often) dreaded nursing home. I do doubt the "while you sleep" part....I can't imagine that wouldn't wake you up for the duration of the cycle....but still, I imagine it is something the patient would get used to, and it may well be less disruption of a nights sleep than a conventional diaper change and clean up in the night. |

It's all well and good JoeK, 'till you confuse the two and end up trying to put your cat in a nursing home. (Let's just hope you haven't been to the vet first!) |

Fred, I agree with you wholeheartedly! A night diaper is a MUCH simpler solution. |
