I'm not talking about diaper rash. I have been wearing diapers for several years now and the groin section of my legs looks unhealthy. Its the part where the crotch section of my diaper rubs the insides of my legs. The skin in that area is darker and it peels. I'm wondering what I can do about it to have healthier skin. I see my dermatologist on Tuesday and I'm going to ask her what I can do for my skin. I take a shower every day and scrub good down there. But the constant rubbing is not good for my skin. So what creams or lotions do you guys use to avoid this problem.

I am service connected for incontinence with the Dept. of Vets Affairs so I'm also going to ask them what they recommend and can prescribe for me. They give me diaper rash cream already. But I'm looking for like a skin healing cream. The diaper area is so caustic anyway with bodily fluids and waste. Anything I can do to improve my skin will help.

Thanks for the replies.

Cheers,
Don

Many of the rash skin products are also very effective in maintaining healthy skin. A&D is a good example of this type of product. In fact, I would recommend the use of A&D as a good all round skin product that is good for both diaper rash, and skin maintenance.

Like yourself, the Dept. of Veterans Affairs (VA) provides me with all my meds, and incon items needed. At present, they are sending me two products that are available from Medline. Soothe & Cool, INZO Zinc Oxide Barrier Cream. As the name suggests this product is barrier cream that contains skin healing properties. The other product that receive is Remedy Calazime. This is a skin protectant PASTE that also contains Zinc Oxide as one of it's many healing properties. This product IS THE BEST diaper rash product I've ever used. It's that good,....plus it heals all the dried and cracked skin area with ease.

Johnstone,
I saw my dermatologist this morning and showed her my skin down there. She said its from yeast infections and repeat rashes from sweat and the diaper rubbing the inside of my legs. The skin is hyperpigmented meaning its darker than normal. The dermatologist said it will never go back. She gave me some cream (Ketoconozole) to put on it for the infections when I get them. I scrub real good down there every day but I'm very active and often walk which aggravates the rubbing. I also, due to my activity and work schedule, am in diapers for long periods of time sometimes 4-5 hours between changes. So all this doesn't help. But thats what is causing the problem.

Try putting petroleum jelly, aka Vaseline, on the skin where the diaper rubs n the inside of your legs. It will help reduce chafing completely. You may have to put a small amount on at every or every other change. It has helped my over the last few days with the warm weather we have been getting here.
