I'm new here, I'm a 28 year old guy. I've been lurking for about a month or so and I've been waiting to post until I had some feedback from my urologist.

I've been having bad frequency (gotten worse over the last year and a half) problems daily and night voiding issues (for about two months) and I've been wearing protection to bed. I started out having an xray of my lower back area. I am still waiting to talk to my normal doctor regarding this but from what I gather from the urologist, I have something not exactly right with my back. They asked if I had an injuries, or scoliosis, but I wasn't aware of any issues and he scheduled me for urodynamics for a suspected neurogenic bladder. He also checked my prostate and no issues there.

I have to say it was the most uncomfortable experience of my life! First time with a catheter for me. Since everyone knows what happens during these exams I'll jump to the chase. Apparently I have a pretty small bladder capacity causing the pressure and frequency. I had some retention but according to the physicians assistant it wasn't neurogenic bladder in her opinion. She also said that she didn't notice any spasms during the process so she was ruling out overactive bladder. She wants me to try and prolong my voiding to try and stretch my bladder out and I've been prescribed Sanctura to help with relaxing the bladder so it might fill a little better. She also said she noticed that during my voiding that I appeared to use my rectal? muscles when voiding. (I didn't even notice that I was...)

Anyway, there's my short intro and what's been going on with me. Thanks for the chance to get it out there.

Hello Rick, feels good to be able to, if even in text online, dump some of what we carry around, doesn't it? I lurked for a long time before posting as well, many do. I know all about the back issues, they can trigger all kinds of strange stuff, especially if nerves are involved, I have a bit of that after an MVA. Good that you talked to the doc, and saw the urologist, it is certainly not a plesant visit to get any of the tests done, not the most painful, just really uncomfortable, and more then slightly embarassing! Stay a while, and feel free to keep us all updated, :) Puffy

I had a female assistant put the catheter in when I had an endoscope (or whatever it's called). Not pleasant and embarrassing too. So I understand the "feeling" Luckily, it seems that having a hard-on in these situations is not automatic, although I had my Dr give me an injection to make that happen too. I can't think of anything more embarrassing than going to a urologist. A colonoscopy is significantly less embarrassing but the prep is terrible. I do like my podiatrist, she cuts my toe nails :D

We have all had humiliating experiences.
I had a female urologist for a while I also had my Foley catheter changed every month at the doctor office by aaaa nurse.

My GP is female and she one of the best caring doctors I have

Hay guys just think where we would be without women.
Women take care of us from the time we are born to the time we die.

Got to love them

Makes me feel a tinsy bit better that you all have had experiences like that! My wife was laughing the whole time... but I remember being with her during birth so I have to say I have had the good deal there!

I went to my primary care physician and apparently I have scoliosis.. I have never had any a doctor or medical professional tell me this before so I'm kind of nervous and curious as to how it happened.

That's got me wondering... I've tried searching for scoliosis and incontinence and there's not much information, so it makes me think something else is going on. I'm going back to my urologist for a followup in a few days and I'll see what his professional opinion on my tests are.

Welcome Rick. This is a great site with lots and lots of experience dealing with incontinence issues. Issues from products to coping. Very seldom do I see questionalble (AB/DL) posts. I've been a member here for several years now and this community has given me some of the best advice and support in living with incontinence. I've been diagnosed with neurogenic bladder due to permanent nerve damage. I was in a car-semi accident back in 1998. In any case you will find there are members here that can relate to your situation. Maybe not in exact detail but from my experience you'd be suprised how many people on this site have been through very similar situations. Just knowing there is a community here that cares and understands is worth a great deal. Know that you are not alone. Glad to have you on board!

I have experienced the things you have and they found I have a mild Spina Bifida that ruined the bladder controls. They tried the pill route ut it didn't help, once they stopped them the wetting came right back. I ended up sticking with diapers and wetting with no control. It got progressively worse and could not be corrected. You may wish to look into Spina Bifida.
