A link to the Australian version of the same surgery I'm having on Friday. This is from down under but is accurate as far as what I was told on my one visit to the interventional neuro radiologist......

Furthermore, guys, Rob, and Tarlton, Thank You for offering your prayers. It is much appreciated. I guess I shouldn't be so quick to say that I may get cured and not need you guys anymore because I just don't know......I guess as of right now, I'm not going anywhere. I do enjoy reading the forums and offering support wherever I can. So I do plan on sticking around for a bit.....

Well, at least the typo didn't 'come out' as P&BM! Sorry, Rope, but it was just too funny....

Glad the surgery went okay, PB&J, and that you don't have a spinal cord problem - Onward and upward toward finding out what's going on.

Saturday November 15: well, I had the spinal angiogram surgery yesterday. It was done at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. and you're all aware I was extremely nervous about the surgery having never had any type of surgery before. We had to go down there on Thursday, November 13 for the preop appointment and since it is more than 45 minutes in the car I had to have a Foley for the ride because I cannot sit in the car that long. So the wife Cathed me before we left and we rode down there to talk to the doctors and nurses that were going to perform the surgery. I was going to have to have a foley for the surgery anyway so while we were talking to them my wife told them that I had a foely in already and asked if we could leave it in or if they needed to put their own in during the surgery. They said that the catheter that she had put in would be fine. A couple of reasons I was worried about it is because nobody else is ever had to do it for me before, only my wife has cathed me. Furthermore, I have a sensitivity to latex catheters they make me sore and inflamed so I didn't want to wake up and find out that I had one of those in me. We had to leave the house here at 0500 to make it down there on time and they got us right into the pre-op area...... We talk to the doctors and nurses and anesthesiologists and the next thing I know I was being woken up. The whole thing was really over before I realized it. I was in the post anesthesia care unit from about 11 AM till about 3:30 PM or so...... The nurses and doctors were really great and the procedure was not very painful as I did not feel much pain when I woke up. I guess I was a little bit uncooperative when I first woke up as I wanted to move my arms and legs and they did not want me to be moving at all because they need that groin area to clot up and not continue to bleed. I guess I was trying to move my legs around a lot so they finally went and got my wife because I would not listen to them. They put any immobilizer on my leg so that I would not try to bend my knee or move around and obviously like I said my wife was brought in much earlier than they typically bring family members in to the PACU. So they told me they did not find anything and so they did not put any superglue in anywhere obviously and they were not really sure what to tell me beyond that so I guess we are just going to continue living with this. I'm hugely disappointed this morning as I'm waking up and getting going I'm not really sure what else to do. I guess I'm glad that I got that order of catheter supplies the other day because apparently we are going to be continuing on with Foley catheters. I also have a couple of cases of diapers which apparently I'm going to be using those as well. But I guess it could always be a lot worse I could have cancer or I could have complete incontinence and never make it to the toilet. I guess that kind of puts things in perspective and I'm not bowel incontinent (except for those couple of accidents I have had) sorry for those of you who do deal with that....that is a tough way to go...... So I guess I'll be laying little here over the next week or week and a half I cannot lift anything more than 10 pounds for the next week so it's gonna force me to just sit home and relax and the wife so far has been an excellent nurse she has done so much for me thus far. She is taking care of all my catheter needs and is putting diapers on me when I need to be diapered which is something that no wife should ever have to do for her husband..... Other than putting catheters and I usually do everything else myself she doesn't usually have to put diapers on me unless she just wants to be nice....... She doesn't really care for them but has been excepting of them because they allow us to live a somewhat normal life. I guess that is all for now I'm pretty tired still but I'm just trying to relax and get through the day. On the bright side, you guys are stuck with me for a long time I guess I'm not going anywhere because I'm still among the ranks of the incontinent folks.

Paul
