Regarding babyish decorations/prints on diapers: After urinary procedures, my reaction to the anesthesia left me helpless for some thirty-six hours. My wife had to wash and change me, and, while she was at school, a home health aide took over. Both of them checked the wetness indicator to decide when I needed to be changed, because there was no way I could have told them. Even today I cannot always know, for sure, when I need to be changed, because I'm pretty much numb down there. Babyish? Perhaps. But it is useful nonetheless.

I share your numbness 'down there' as I am paraplegic yet I can tell when a nappy is wet by the hardness of the filling. Just a touch confirms the state.

Agreed. When I'm up and about, I can feel a wet nappy; however, when I'm drugged on anesthesia, or during a Meniere's or a Tumarkin's attack, I don't feel much of anything.

One feels/looks like a baby when one tapes on a blue disposable diaper or after pinning on a cloth diaper and pulling on a yellow pair of plastic pants (anything other than white.)

It isn't the nonwhite color which makes it babyish but the baby themed prints, like ABC blocks or baby bottles.
That said I have no problems wearing it if it is better than the alterantives in any way, since no one sees it anyway, but it does feel a little silly.

Papa and Patrick, I've always appreciated a wetness indicator because I'm ... frugal. I like the reassurance that I'm using my absorbent underwear to capacity.

Since I see the wetness indicator became an issue I don't understand why. It has good use for some people. You might not need it, but it makes no sense for the diaper companies to make two diapers one with an indicater and one with out. The logistics would make it more expensive than simply making it standard. If you're lucky enough not to need it and it is there who cares. This isn't the same thing as teddy bear print which no one should need.
