I walk dogs and the poop bags I use are perfect for diapers. They look like newspaper bags. My boss gives them to me for free, but I'm pretty sure he gets them on Amazon. And they are orange so it conceals what's in them.

This is them:

I guess I'm stingy. I keep a supply of the thin, plastic grocery bags and an envelope of twist ties in my gym/diaper bag.

I always add a "Male Guard" Pad (usually with a few slits) to my diaper. When it is soaked it's super easy to reach into the front of my diaper and pull just the pad out. At that point I can just use my diaper, which is still fairly dry, or I can very easily insert another pad. I then put the soaked pad in a plastic bag or even wrap it in toilet paper and throw it in the trash can. This can be done very easily in any bathroom stall or even a place well away from anyone else. Another bonus is that you can easily put a spare pad in your pants pocket without anybody being the wiser.

Ok, I don't know how many on this board like me need to use intermittent catheters, but my urologist wants me cathing 4 times a day. I'm happy to oblige, since the alternative is risking eventual kidney failure. I even set alarms on my phone to remind me to take care of business because with ADHD, im notorious for forgetting things. When i started cathing, one thing that annoyed me that when i pullled the catheter out, there was always a little bit of urine left in the catheter. now, the istructions say you shouuld angle the catheter down in to the toilet while removing but thats not always practial, especially for males while standing up. So I figured out a tip to avoid residual spillage. A catheter is a hollow tube just like a straw. Anyone knows that if you were to put a straw in a glass full of water, and cover one end of it, the liquid stays in the straw. Same concept with a catheter. If you cover with your thumb the green end while remvoving the residual urine is kept i the catheter until youre in the positon to let it out in the toilet.

If you are applying rash cream and using a disposable, garden variety wipes are very useful in removing rash cream from your hands, and afterward you can dry them using toilet paper. This hack has enabled me to apply rash cream multiple times with disposables without compromising the tapes.

I don't know how many people have diaper leakage issues. I sure did. What I've found is I use a cloth pull-up diaper much like babykins sells. The absorbency isn't much of an issue. I find the heavy duty pull-ups work best for me but those who are trying to be descrete, they sell thin pull-ups. Put a plastic pants over that and you are almost guaranteed not to leak. If the disposable can't handle the urine, the pull-up will pickup the excess and the plastic pants are there to keep you dry. Just putting plastic pants over a disposable doesn't cut it. There isn't anything to absorb the overflow and you will leak. But when you have the extra absorbent layer and the plastic pants to contain the wetness, you get the confidence that even if you didn't change soon enough, your extra layers of protection are there to back you up. In my opinion, this is the biggest discovery ever and I've been incontinent for 40 years. I can't tell you how many times my disposable has let me down and I end up having wet pants even when I'm protected. Leaks happen. I'm sure the cloth diaper crowd will rejoice and say, see, the disposable guys can't trust their diapers. If you have bowel issues like I do, there is nothing like being able to cleanup and throw away than deal with messy cloth diapers. In my opinion, I've get the best of both worlds. Messy diapers can be thrown away, but I don't leak because of the extra absorption layer to keep my pants dry. In my opinion, this really makes being incontinent almost worthwhile, almost. I know others use the same system. There will be some that are concerned about the thickness of the diaper. Let me tell you, I use daily, comfydry 24/7, north shore 2x booster, a very thick babykins pull-up diaper and Gary plastic pants every day, 24/7. I wouldn't leave home without it. And nobody has ever asked me "do you wear diapers?"

Just a couple things to add. I've been incontinent for about 10 years due to an autonomic neuropathy. Like most of you, I keep a "go" bag with me in my car. I've actually become sort of a backpack connoisseur. I've traded up over the years from the little $10 drawstring bags, to smaller backpacks. I recently bought a high quality bag made by Osprey. It is essentially a day pack for small hiking trips of a few hours. It has ample storage space with a few pockets. In it, I keep about four (4) Dry 24/7 diapers, and adult washcloths (wipes). I get mine from Walgreens in the incontinence isle. I also keep medical gloves, and A&D for diaper rash. I usually put several gloves in a plastic ziplock bag. I find the gloves useful for applying A&D to my skin so I don't get residual cream on my hands which may ruin future taping procedures. I just take the gloves off and throw them away with my trash. Just some tricks I've learned over the years.

As I mentioned above, I wear confidry 24/7. I use Abena Abri-let booster pads to increase absorption and give the diaper increased capacity. Over that, I use one of the Gary PUL covers. I have 5 pair. This does get kind of bulky. However, I usually wear whatever kind of clothing is comfortable. I live in Florida and it gets hot here in the summer. Due to my neuropathy, I have problems with sweating (lack thereof) and heat Intolerance. I drink a lot of water and wear light clothing when the situation permits. I hate wearing jeans. I like athletic shorts with light t-shirts. According to my wife, my diapers are somewhat visible under my shorts. But it's a give n take. Either get overheated, or risk people noticing I wear diapers. Last time I got overheated, I had a bad reaction to the Lithium I take and ended up with potentially fatal blood levels of medicine in my body. I got dehydrated despite drinking water non stop and ended up in the ER getting an IV. So what do I do? I just try to stay cool and do the best I can. If someone has ever noticed my diapers, nobody has ever said anything. Most people mind their own business anyway and will not be rude.

My experience is the same. It is obvious to me that I wear diapers but nobody at work or shopping has any idea. As has been said many people are more concerned with their own issues, though don't quite know about what you are dealing with. Everyone I've read about has said they were surprised that people didn't notice their diaper. That is my experience as well. You should not be concerned on wearing protection. People don't care. As long as you aren't obvious, just relax and be contained. It will be much better in the long run.
