Justej,
B is simply trying to help. Relax. All of us here are trying to help and support each other as we go through. through life. As you know, it isn't easy.

Back to the original issue:
If you are left home alone, you need a frame over your bed, with a trapeze bar. Sorry, I don't know what the proper medical term is, but you get the idea. The basic idea is for you to have some mechanism to sit yourself up or roll yourself over as you need to. This will help you with the details of getting your diaper changed and put on correctly. You will need a stack of diapers nearby for obvious reasons.

Of course there is the bigger issue of who will help you by cooking and changing your bedding and giving you water. I hope you have a care nurse to help you with those basics.

Blessings upon you.

Sorry I just don't appreciate being told to suck it up after I said I don't want outside help due to trauma.
Anyway. I have friends and neighbors stopping in to help. My insurance doesn't cover nurses. I have a leg scooter that I've figured out how to lean on and stand on one foot and lean against the wall and diaper myself. Whew that was an interesting one to figure out. I forgot I did that last time. My doctor says even though I'm non weight bearing the scooter will help. So I think I have it figured out. One more day.....

Sorry I snapped I'm just stressed out.

No worries. We all get a bit stressed out at times. Learn from it and move on. I hope you can figure this out for yourself. Keep us in the loop as you figure out your demons, for we all share them with you.

Yeah no hard feelings. A lot of us have already been there in our own ways (I know I sure was). Just know you're not alone in this challenge, nor do you have to be.

For what it's worth, I'm also quite familiar with the leg scooter, the long leg cast, and the leg boot, (and walker, crutches, cane). Ah the memories, driving and food shopping was an even bigger challenge than diapering for me though.

Friends will bring me food and help with trash etc. I bought 3 boxes of gallon storage bags and have them right next to my bed along with trash bags, bed pads and 3 packages of diapers to start. Think I'll be ok. Gonna sleep for a bit then stay up. Gotta be at the hospital at 5:30am across town and I know if I fall asleep i won't wake up

Hi Justej

I hope your surgery goes well.

I admire your independence something to hang on to.

I always place a change mat underneath just in case I have an accident during the diapering process.

All the best.
