This sucks! Last night after typing my previous posting I shared a tiny bit of kir (dry wine mixed with Creme de Cassis) with my wife. At 5:00 am I wet my underwear while sleeping on the couch. I was on my side and fortunately I felt the puddle on my hip and woke up before the urine soaked through to the couch. It seems that anything diuretic (i.e. alcohol or caffeine) has the potential to trigger an episode of wetting as I can't count of myself to wake up. A bedpad would have probably been sufficient to catch the amount of urine I released but I wasn't using one. Got lucky that the couch wasn't wet.

This sucks. This intermittent wetting drives me nuts. If it was every night I could deal with it better. I could count on it happening and I would wear a diaper to bed every night and I would easily understand the need for it. Being dry 29 out of 30 nights (actually it's probably 44 out of 45 days) and throwing away a dry diaper in the morning is maddening. I have the same frustration I felt in dealing with daughters intermittent wetting when she was younger (different post).

France eats their normal dinners at 7:00PM and later and meals are expected to last 2-3 hours and wine is normal. A restaurant might be insulted if we only stay one hour and didn't drink their wine. I thought I could get away with no protection but not now. I am bringing diapers to France and that sucks. What choice do I have? :( :( :(

I would include a generous supply of booster pads too.

G, I'll say "Amen" to all of the above. While you hope for success, plan for failure. With incontinence you will not be disappointed. :D

While your incontinence is intermittent, it is difficult to judge how frequently you will have an episode during foreign travel with a change of food, hours, etc.

Take diapers and plenty of boosters and plastic pants. Double diaper at night with a booster plus absorbent pads under the sheet. :D

And don't forget disposal bags!

Do some research with Google so that you know where you can restock, as required. If you do not speak French, write down the French translation for critical incontinence supplies.

Then just have a great vacation in Paris and enjoy all the wine without worrying about it! :D

I have my vacation travel next month on a cruse ship and am going through the same planning process.

G, I know that you're concerned about wasting product, but if your intermittent wetting episodes are moderate, you should bring a supply of store-brand pull-ups. If you don't have a wet night and don't soil the pull-up, you could use it for another night or so. I've previously posted elsewhere that a night in an unfamiliar bed after a long day of traveling, and a change in routine as to what a person eats and/or drinks and when he/she eats/drinks it, will more likely than not set the stage for a wet night for people with bedwetting tendencies.
