We have some 530+ members but only like the same 20-30 people are active and posting. I notice that most people sign up, but never post. They just disappear. I have wondered why that is?

Don, my personal guess is that people come here to see if they can gain some insight to dealing with incontinence. Even though it is private one can still be "put upon" for their comments. No one likes to be judged. No one wants to hear they may be odd. Also, even though it is private it still is difficult to "openly" talk about the situation we are in. Being open and frank is difficult for most people, so they sit and read rather then join in because it is just safer. Papa

Papa is right. There are a lot of old members who have moved on and probably don't even come back to this this forum. I believe a lot of people join to feel they are a part of this forum, but have no intention to make a post. Some join just in case they want to make a post, they can.

Really, you can view all the past posted messages on countless subjects we have covered and learn a tremendous amount of information in coping with incontinence.

I'm glad we have several of the faithful members who will post a message to stay in touch with the other active members. ...Paul Martin

Most boards have a handful of "regulars" and everybody else just lurks for the most part.

On problem-solving boards such as this most members join b/c they have a specific question or two. Once their questions are answered they generally move on. This isn't exactly a board for social discussion.

I think your correct. There is no shortage of lookers here. It's always been that way,.....at least since I've been a member. Think of this way,.....the most important people are here making post like we always do and continue to collect more information from others. I can't even begin to tell you hw much I have learned about incontence in general since becoming a member. Just sharing information and advise has save me a LOT money regarding the purchase of different products, PLUS how much I learned from other about the differnet type of incontinece and how they are affected and cope with daily activites. Being a member of this goup is like a like of things........the more u=you put into it, the more you get out of it, so for those that just want to look and read the comments of others who participate they don't understand how much they are missing by not being part of discussion.

Agreed from Puffy too! I lurked for a long period of time before I got the courage up to register and post, did some reading and research (done a TON of that in the last 15 years!) but actually joining and posting for the first time was the best thing I have done. I do not talk to anyone except my best friend about all this incon stuff, but posting here is about the same as verbally talking to me, even if there is the cloak of anominity of the internet. He is very accepting of it, but has him own medical problems to deal with including the rare nighttime episode which I help him with as best I can (another back /disk injured person). I noticed a difference in my mood during the day, and how I look at the BIG picture in life compared to before. I even look forward to checking and replying to messages, added a task to my day I enjoy! It would be better not to have to be on a board for medical problems, but I am sure glad it is here! 8) Puffy

I have learned so much from this board on how to live with and manage incontinence. I talk to Johnstone on a regular basis. I think we have learned alot from each other. Together, we worked out how to get the VA to pay for Abena brand diapers. That saves me a whole lot of money every month. As I get a case of Xplus, and 2 cases of Extra. Now, I can properly care for myself and change as necessary without worrying will I run out. I enjoy talking on this board. I'm with Puffy...I await my private messages on this board and look forward to responding. I like to post because it helps me learn new things from people and it also helps me get things off my chest. My psychologist encourages me to talk about my problems. And here I can do it quite freely. I just wish there were more active members on this board to talk to. This board is pretty quiet but it has a lot of quality I think. I don't find alot of ab/dl garbage or spam here. I think many of our members are genuine. I don't deny that there are some here that aren't but at least many of them don't flaunt it and if they do they are caught by the mods. So my thanks to Schoppy for a quality site where we can come here and talk. And thanks to the mods for keeping the trash away. I just wish people would talk more and engage in conversation. I feel like me and a few others are the only ones talking.

Generally, if I don't have anything of value to ask or add I will not be posting much.

I have learned a lot from others on this board. I hope someone has been able to take a positive from me. I have been through some very dark times in the past two years. I have to say thanks to those who helped me through the worst, even if they didn't know they did.

Last year I learned a very important rule to live by. "Don't worry about the things your can't control. Only think about what you can." That attitude has gotten though some pretty rough times. My primary doctor told me this week that he was very impressed with the way I'm dealing with most of my health issues. He said he has some patients that have some of my issues that were mentally destroyed when they found out there was little hope of improvement. I started down that path but thankfully found a couple good forums and a really good friend to help point me into a better direction.

Thanks to schoppy and everyone that contributes. You help give a friendly face to an ugly problem.

I just want to say Thank-You for the kind words.

I have always said that this isn't "my" forum but "your" forum.
I only started it, but everyone here made it what it is today, and that makes it "your" forum.

This forum is made up of wonderful people all gathered together with a common problem. We all pee on ourselves.
But we are all friends here and we all help each other. Even the people that only read the posts here and don't register,
they still are able to learn new ways to help manage our common problems and that they are not alone.

Thank-You Everyone

Schoppy :D :D :D

I have just returned from holidays, and found the forum had crashed, and my account was deleted temporarily until it was reset to the last back up, and have only been able to read as I could not log in. Good to be home for sure, still a few days off before I go back to w*rk... I don't even want to type it! ;-) Puffy
