how do you know when to change?

Mon Nov 04, 2013 4:51 pm

I'm still figuring this out. I feel like I either change too early or too late (ie i've leaked). Of course I'm wearing pads and not diapers. I'm wearing poise ultimate absorbency, and they seem to be working for at least 5 hours sometimes longer, but because I have small-moderate accidents sometimes several in a row I don't really know how much i've peed. today I ended up with a wet spot on the front of my pants.

Hi Prplchnz,
That's a funny handle for a name. What is it short for? I really never did try pads when I first became incontinent many years ago, but it seems you use the same indicators when you need to change when you wear a diaper. I wear a diaper brief and can tell by feel and how heavy the diaper gets when I know I'm getting close to a change. With a pad, it's going to be a little harder. If you're on a regular schedule in wetting, it's not too hard. Just change every 3 to 4 hours. My incontinence varies with the time of the day. I usually change more often early in the day, and less often towards the end of the day. With a pad, I would just stick changing on a time schedule. You probably can't feel how wet the pad is like you can with a diaper on. Hope I gave you some help......Paul Martin
