Life is good

I haven't posted much lately as work and everything else in my life has been hectic to say the least. It has been a good hectic as life is good. Work has been extremely busy which is a blessing considering sp many people out of work and businesses failing. I got married to the most wonderful woman this past September and we purchased a home together this past May. I haven't been thinking much about being incontinent. I've just been dealing with it as I always do. I don't get too down about it any longer. I guess maybe I've accepted the fact that it is not going away. I still get angry occasionally but I don't get that hopeless depressed feeling I used to get. My life is good. My wife has been nothing short of wonderful. She takes it all in stride. One evening last week I was airing my bottom out a little before getting ready for bed. We were sitting together on the couch when my bladder decided to let go. I was upset (more wet on my jeans than on the couch) but it didn't seem to bother her in the least. I try to give my bottom a chance to air out every day. Now she asks me if I'm "going comando". If I am she just tells me to not to go too long without putting protection back on. She knows I have no control and she has absolutely no problem with that. It has been almost 20 years since I was last married. When I became incontinent I figured I'd never find a woman who would unconditionally accept me for me. I now believe in never say never. Life is good.

Congratulations DDS. I am happy for you. I enjoy being married as well. I don't let my incontinence hold me back or let it get me down. I just take it in stride. I agree with you...life is good.

That is such a great UPBEAT post! Good for you, finding a wonderful woman.....that is so important in life! And great that work is a good...... busy and keeping you from spending too much time on your lack of bladder control. Diapers are just another form of underwear and a bit more trouble to deal with, but certainly no reason to "stop living life".

You brought up a great skin care procedure when you mentioned airing out every day! If more would do that, it would save a of grief in diaper rash and dealing with that problem. Hopefully, the couch you were sitting on is protected with a waterproof pad.......? I'd like to suggest, since most of us are involved with computers and email on a daily basis....that could be a good time to air out.....wear nothing on your diaper area and sit on a protected computer chair....a waterproof sheet and a couple of diapers for padding on the chair will work well. A robe will cover up your nakedness without impeding airing out. If you bladder does let go, you can gather the diaper up to contain the flood and after the diapers have absorbed it, you can get up and move to bathroom. I find most times I can get an hour in every morning with no problem....letting my skin enjoy being dry!

Thank you for bringing that great tip up for the rest to consider!

Hey DDS!

I'm so happy to hear you found the dream of your life. I've been narried for almost 35 years to a wonderful wife who had to accept my incontinece well into our marriage. I do not know what I would do without her. I still have many problems to cope with besides incontinence and it's so comforting to have my wife there to support me through some tough decissions ahead. Life is good even if things aren't perfect for you. It's all how you look at it. .....Paul Martin

I do try to get a little "airing out" time every day. Sometimes it is only a few minutes but I try to do it daily. I like to go without protection for a half hour to an hour just to let my skin dry out and breathe. I usually do this when I get home from work after a good washing of my diaper area. I do think the daily airing out has helped keep the rashes away. About the only time I get a rash is if I've been wearing disposables for more than a couple days in a row. I never seem to get a rash wearing cloth.
