I am thinking of trying devrom to reduce fecal odor associated with incontinence. Johnstone told me about it. I talked to my doctor and she doesn't think it will have any negative interactions with any other meds that I take but she also said she had never heard of it. I think that is because she is a Psychiatrist, not a Gastro doc. I don't even know if the Gastro doc has heard of it. I never had before I came here to this forum. Things like Nullo and Devrom are fairly new terms to me. I am going to try it, I just don't have the money to buy any yet. I don't want to have any fecal odor so I'm looking to try something new.

Patient: Hey, doc - Should I try this pill for this reason?
Doc: I've never heard of it. But - it shouldn't affect any other meds you take".

That is NOT the advice I'd take from any doctor. If they don't know what something is, and have never heard of it - how on earth can they be qualified to tell you it "can't hurt"?

Run, don't walk from that advice.

My Psychiatrist just looked up the drug interactions with the medication that I currently take and the compound used to create devrom isn't on the warning list. She just looked up what devrom is and what is used to create it and then compared it to the listed drugs that cause bad interactions. Its not listed. I don't think Devrom is a medication, its an enzyme. She said there should be no bad interactions between that compound and my medications according to the manufacturer.

I'll take her advice any day. She is a very intelligent lady. I trust her! Out of all my doctors, she is probably the most qualified because she knows the effects of psychiatric medications. Just because she has never heard of a med does not mean she can't look at its compound and see that its not harmful.

You can go to the Devrom web sight and read about it.I can tell you that it will not all ways make you 100 percent smell prof but it works better than any thing I have found. There web sight is also the cheapest place I have found to buy it.When I am haveing a bad week or what ever as it comes and gos with me I have ask my wife to tell me if she smells any thing and it is very seldom she says any thing. And if she does it most of the time is like in the car with the windows rolled up so very close to me and that is not often.I have crap my self like in Wall Mart and such and she does not notice. :?

I am fortunate not to suffer from bowel incontinence, so I can't speak from experience, but I have heard others have had success with Nullo, which has an active ingredient of chlorophyllin copper complex. I have heard people mention that taking chlorophyll pills from health stores are cheaper and have similar effects. Both will turn your BMs green though.
