Well, been on the VESIcare for a month today and I have noticed a change. Not going as much but the lack of sweating is still a problem. I had to let the guys I work with know I was taking something where a side effect was lack of sweating because I really felt they had a need to know. You see, I'm a firefighter and I don't really have a choice about avoiding hot enviroments. I then shared with them why I was on VESIcare which scared the hell out of me but all were very supportive. I did leave out the part about wearing protection because I still am not at a point where I can talk about it. I still won't let myself say the "d" word, I just say "my depends". I know it's sad but the idea just makes me feel like less of a person because I have to use them at night.
As for the VESIcare, I'll keep tring it and hope things continue to get better and try to manage the overheating with cold drinks and wet towels as needed and keep using the sugar free gum and ice chips for the dry mouth

Well it's been over five months and I can say there have been changes. The VESIcare seems to be working for me fairly well. I make less trips to the bathroom and have been working on waiting longer from the time I get the urge to go. I think I have only had one actual wetting accident and a near miss since then. The wetting accident I think was cause from taking sudafed which I was later told can be a bladder irritent and counter the OAB med's. I have worked with my sleeping at night so I go to bed later and wake up sooner and now only get up once a night most of the time. I feel with some more time I will get back to the point where I will not wear protection at night any more. I got through the summer ok with a few issues with the sweating and as for the dry mouth, I have gotten use to that and the crushed ice has been a big help. I will see my uro in another three weeks and we will go from there. Thanks to all that wrote back. It really made a difference just to talk about it some.
