Hey all...

We usually don't take vacations, can't ever really afford it. But we have been fortunate this year. My boss decided to "thank" everyone in the company with a cash bonus... so my fiancee and I are going down to Myrtle Beach for a few days.

I've never been to the beach while needing daytime diapers. The last time I went was with my family over 10 years ago, when I was just having night-time problems.

I have a DTO swim diaper from XPMedical, and a pull-on swim diaper from Gabbys for use in and around the water. I guess I'm just more concerned with laying around on the beach, sitting in the sand and what-not. Any suggestions folks?

Thank you!

PuddleGuy,

This is what I do since my wife and I take a Pensacola Beach vacation every year at fall break.

If I'm going into the water, I'll have on a swim diaper under my trunks. Now the disposable diaper under the platic pants will swell up with the beach water, but I use a pad that I can pull out and change once I'm out of the water. This worked for me even on a snorkeling trip at Belize.

While I'm sitting out at the pool and intend to stay out of the pool, I wear a pull-up diaper. Even if I jump in the pool, the pull-up doesn't swell up too bad. I just change out of it when we go back to the condo.

I've never had a problem whats so ever doing this. Good Luck! You shouldn't have any problem at all. ...................Paul Martin

My advice
If the water is near by and your going in right away don't worry about protection. That is if it is only "Number one" you deal with. If you deal with Number two then you should wear something. One nice thing about being A guy at the beach is men's Bathing Suits tend to be rather baggy. So if you want to just enjoy the sun and not go swimming You should be able to get away with a decent level of protection without it being real detectable  I've not tried the Pullup method Paul spoke of. That maybe one to try. If you try it let us know how it works for you :?: I rarely ever go to a beach with the intention to swim. Most of the time if I go swimming in a lake it is off the back of our Power Cruiser while we are anchored somewhere. So I don't worry about protection there :) Besides that I really struggle being in a bathing suit at a public beach. In times past I've worn a light T-shirt and a pair of light shorts over my suit at a Beach. Diapers/incontinence or not I really struggle with being a Female in a swimsuit at the beach. Being according to the bible we are not to dress in a matter that would cause a person to stumble. And that's difficult to do if your Female with the beach outfits they offer today :?
Anyway I'll be interested to know how it went for you........Sandy :)

I agree with Sandy that if you are going to be heading to the water soon after hitting the beach not to bother wearing protection. What I have done is to wade in to the water right away. Then my swim trunks are already wet in case I wet when out of the water. I've never tried any of the swim diapers but if they are anything like a cloth or disposable diaper when you get out of the water they will weigh 10 Lbs and sag to your knees.

I have to agree with not wearing diapers at the beach!

As DDS says, go in the water to get your trunks wet and keep them wet with periodic water entries. When you pee, it will generally run down one leg into the sand, unseen....after which you go right into the water.

The other, similar thread, involving cloth diapers and plastic pants on the beach.....I just can't see sucessfully hiding a diaper under swim trunks unless they are quite oversized and baggy.....but even at that, trunks hang or drap on you so that diaper bulk would be impossible to conceal. The only way I could imagine wearing cloth diapers on the beach would be in conjunction with a cover up....a long tee or shirt to hide the bulk.

For shirtless wear at the beach, and not going in the water....such as just hanging out or walking the beach on a cool day, then a disposable should be fine under shorts and a disposable with cloth-like backing may be a better bet to keep the diaper under your trunks at the rear waist. Any plastic backed diaper is going to let the trunks slip down enough to expose the diaper at your rear waist.

Some wear boxers under their swim trunks, so that can work to your advantage with the boxers waist band staying above the diaper waistband so if the trunks slip down a bit, only the boxers waist will show and that is a pretty "normal" sight.

This is a situation that i have faced.. while i dont have total loss of control.. the episodes i face are unpredictable, and constant protection is necessity..wihich includes in the water. I have purchased a swim diaper from XP medical. I used baby cloth diapers as inserts to make it more absaorbent. The downside is.. they still swell up and the pool water gets trapped in the diaepr and spills out. This item is still useful however. After all. when you have a dry suit on and are just going to get into the water.. suddenly peeing your pants is sure to be noticed.

However, at the beach.. id probably take a different approach. Id probably follow the above advice.
