I didn't know how to title this post, but here is my question. I am wondering if anyone else has issues with irritation on the sides of your waist from the wings of the diaper? If so, have you found a solution? This can be very annoying.

Hello Damp!

A hearty welcome to our corner of the internet. We will figure out this incontinence thing together eh?

As far as your question, irritation around the wings of the diaper is actually quite common, because it is there that either the backsheet which is meant to stay on the outside of the diaper can make contact with the skin if a part of the wing accidentally got folded in, or if a tape tab is making contact with the skin instead of the diaper, that can certianly cause disconfort. Barring that, the cheaper diapers often have inner material that can irritate the skin. I would suggest if its the latter using gold bond poweder, or upping your game to a premium disposable. When applying a new diaper, make sure the wings are fully stretched out and wrap around the sides evenly. A crucial part is to make sure the front of the diaper is pulled up and snug giving the leak guards the ability to sit where they need to to make sure you dont leak. Make sure the tabs are not anywhere near the edge of the diaper.

Hope this helps!

Peace out!

Rob

I echo Rob's replay. Getting the wings tucked in without a fold or wrinkle really helps. Another issue is the height of the garment. I find that a taller diaper works better for me. Thus, while I can wear a medium in the Better Dry I opt for the large. It is a bit taller. The medium fits very snuggly but I can get an equally snug fit with the large. I usually fasten the lower tapes first and then adjust the wings before fastening the top tapes. Sometimes it helps to reach under the lower tape and pull the inner wing down and toward the rear. You can also run a couple of fingers just inside the waist to smooth the material out. You may find some brands fit you better than others. There is no perfect diaper that fits everyone's body and/or needs.
