Hello Damp!
A hearty welcome to our corner of the internet. We will figure out this incontinence thing together eh?
As far as your question, irritation around the wings of the diaper is actually quite common, because it is there that either the backsheet which is meant to stay on the outside of the diaper can make contact with the skin if a part of the wing accidentally got folded in, or if a tape tab is making contact with the skin instead of the diaper, that can certianly cause disconfort. Barring that, the cheaper diapers often have inner material that can irritate the skin. I would suggest if its the latter using gold bond poweder, or upping your game to a premium disposable. When applying a new diaper, make sure the wings are fully stretched out and wrap around the sides evenly. A crucial part is to make sure the front of the diaper is pulled up and snug giving the leak guards the ability to sit where they need to to make sure you dont leak. Make sure the tabs are not anywhere near the edge of the diaper.
Hope this helps!
Peace out!
Rob
