so both in real use and in testing this issue is both real and perceived... for sure many products do have moments of actually leaking through the "weave". this usually shows up much like pin hole leaks that Can happen in all products.
however, as wearers we most often feel like the product is leaking but in reality, it is the nature of the breathability, and actually what is happening is water vapor is escaping (as designed) and then condensing on the cooler outer fibers when I test this I use colored saline solution but what escapes (on breathable products) is clear water (No sodium) this demonstrates that what is coming out is not urine leaking but the product working as designed. unfortunately, the condensed liquid makes us feel wet on the outside because it is, and no matter what you are uncomfortable because you feel wet!
I should also say not all clothlike backed products are breathable some have a plastic layer and the clothlike cover is to feel and look different and has no real functional use otherwise.
