Thank you all for your advice and welcomes. I've settled for a sensitive skin hand wash and give them a rinse after wearing and let them dry naturally

I'm a recent incontinent male after having a radical prostatectomy for Agent Orange related cancer. I also have a fistula from my bladder to my colon, so I have a temporary colostomy. My depression, humiliation and inability to control basic urinary functions is driving me crazy. I don't want to leave the house. I've bought some depends underwear, but I got through almost a dozen a day (unless I use the male guards, which don't seem as effective for very long). I realize I am very sensitive to being "wet" but my primary concern is finding the best diaper to allow me to function outside of my home.

BTW, I still have cancer after my prostate was removed and I face surgeries for my fistula and to reverse the colostomy.

Hey there cnick,

Well everyone is different but I'm going to say depends are not your best bet. What kind of depends are you using? And how large are your accidents? If you're having very large accidents you really need to get into a real and true diaper and going through 12 a day is far too much. Don't want to hurt your wallet. Yes you're probably a little sensitive to being wet, but you'll get used to it and get better in that regard. While some people change immediately after getting wet, in my opinion that is not only not economically sound but practically it isn't either if you end up dropping whatever you're doing to change. If I'm out doing something that is not what I want to be doing. Maybe we can help you not go through so many diapers and into one that helps you function better outside of your house.

Sorry to hear about your issues, cnick. Hopefully you will find some support here on this site. I would also suggest transitioning to an actual, quality diaper. Not only will they hold up better, they should wick the moisture enough that you don't feel wet like you do in a Depends. Also, with their additional capacity and absorption, you will most likely save money by using considerably fewer diapers in a day's time.
