I have an autonomic neuropathy which renders me completely bladder and bowel incontinent. I do not have any control. Naturally, I spend a lot of time in doctors offices going to appointments with different specialists, such as cardiology, urology, GI, neurology, etc. I also see dermatology for my routine skin exams. For this I have to strip all the way down to just a diaper. Last time I went, I was in the exam room for quite a while. I soiled myself before the doctor came in. I got really nervous. At some point, the diaper has to come off to get a complete skin check. However, due to my accident, I obviously couldn't take it off. I had to explain to the dermatologist that I soiled myself. It was a miserable situation. This has happened with other specialists. How do you all handle this? Now, with other specialists I don't have to take off all my clothes. I take Nullo. I'm just afraid they'll notice. I know they are doctors, but I'm still embarrassed.

I can totally relate to this situation and unfortunately I also am just really frustrated when that does happen
But I have known my doctor for a long time and I don't really need to go into details I just excuse myself and get changed
I think it's going to be a lot harder for me now since my sensation is gone down a lot so I'm no longer able to tell if I had an accident ninety percent of the time luckily I have the smell under control with nullo and plastic pants

I always take my gym/diaper bag with me into the exam room. When I lose control and am forced to change, I have everything I need handy.

I'm afraid if I excuse myself then my doctor will come to the room expecting me to be there and I'll miss my appointment. It happened at my cardiologists appt. I just stayed in the soiled diaper until the appt was over. My cardiologist know about my neuropathy and that I'm incontinent so if he does notice something (even though I take Nullo) he can probably put two and two together.
