Problems with wife

Thu Apr 07, 2011 1:49 am

As she is getting older she is having more "accidents" I have lots of diapers, pads, briefs and plastic pants around since I have MS and a long history of bladder/bowel problems.
The problem is she refuses to wear anything. Last week she got the flu, while throwing up sitting on the edge of the bed she also messed in the bed.
She complains about not making it to the bathroom in time and wetting herself too. I try and remind her that I have lots of products around that will help but so far nothing has done much good.
Now I just listen to her and don't say much.
Ideas? I thought about buying some discrete (nylon covered) plastic pants to have on hand the next time something happens but haven't acted yet.

Ask her to talk to her doctor and don't offer any other suggestions. Sometimes the right information has to come from outside of her immediate sphere of influence. Even if it is the same information.

I agree with Doug. Suggest that she talks to her doctor. Always best to find out the why.

I too suggest that she see a doctor. Has she done this yet? A doctor can give her guidance on why she is having incontinence. I definitely would not sit around and wait for it to get worse. Don't try to push pads on her. Try to recommend she see a doc to find out the root cause. If you can solve that problem, then the incon should go away. Ask for a urogynecologist.
