Recycle Old Cloth Diapers?

Fri Jan 14, 2011 10:07 pm

I've been using cloth for a bit over 15 years. After a a year or so the diapers get a fairly worn and a bit tattered. A long time ago we recycled our kids diapers into the rag bin. I've tried to do that with mine but it just didn't seem PC....so I've taken to cutting them into quarters so they weren't so 'recognizable". It seems ashamed to just toss a really good rag. What do you do with your spent cloth diapers?

I do prety much the same. They are great for drying my Harley with. Of course I do that alone. Tough biker in diapers dosen't quite get it. But like you said they are a shame to just toss out. Papa

Not got to this point yet. I am using terry squares though - so rather more like ordinary towels, as we do in the UK. I expect they will end up in car cleaning at some stage though.

I just wish these had been suggested 27 years ago, though but in the UK only sheaths were / are suggested by the health professionals.

I am at the same stage as Wheels is, have not been using long enough to have any that are ready for "Diaper Heaven"...lol but I am sure they will be used for the truck and motorcycle washing activities in the summer... :) Puffy

I use the older, tattered diapers for boosters and when they get too ragged I use them for rags. Birdseye weave is the least linting cotton weave so they make great dust rags.

If you have type of one that wraps round you with velcro/pins.you can modify with a bit of sewing a strap inside to hold hand and modify wrap round so wraps round arm/wrist then use as a polishing mitt and save many bucks $$$
