I havent posted in awhile. I have been in a real bad depression. But I think I made it through. I havent walked in almost a year. Dealing with debilitating pain in my legs (I have complex regional pain syndrome), blood in my elbow, and possible cancer. And throw in incontinence! Ive had some good support though.
Ive been going to a nearby park with my aide pretty often during the week. Watching the birds and squirrels. Incontinence is the least of my worries right now. I have a good routine of MegaMax and Supremes from Northshore (love those folks! They are literally lifesavers.) I am dealing with skin issues but thats par for the course for me.
I hope everyone is well. If you are dealing with depression reach out! Incontinence isnt a death sentence.

I was glad to read the you are up and about, that your depression is abating. Incontinence, though it is rarely lethal, can be debilitating. And it certainly makes depression worse. Thanks for reporting in.

Thanks Patrick.
I have just been feeling....I dunno its hard to explain. Just different. I know different can be good. But if you don't know anyone like you...going through what you are going through its hard. I actually like going to the rehab hospital where I spent a month after my amputation because I see people like me! Wheelchair users, amputees, and even people dealing with incontinence. I have able bodied friends but we don't do a lot because a lot of places aren't wheelchair accessible. HOWEVER my aide, partner and I may start going to museums and things like that. The great thing about DC is there are lots of them!
Anyhoo...how are you doing after your surgery?

The DC area has many handicapped accessible venues, not only museums, but also a zoo, and the Baltimore waterfront. At your next physical therapy appointment you might inquire about support groups for your condition. Good luck and report back when you can.

Yea. Baltimore is a BIT far unfortunately. I'm navigating accessible DC as much as I am able. I'm also doing an amputee support group at the end of next month!

Life is so precious it is all about finding a place that you can zone out for a while nature is all around us and can be a great thing for us to embrace plus it is the last thing we can enjoy for free!
Look after yourself Justej!

Just concerned and hopeful for your success with the amputee support. I'm finishing my cardiac physical rehabilitation, which I found useful. A support group can be similarly useful, so I am eager to read your report.
