more and more bowel issues are becoming a "thing" for me. I saw my gi doctor yesterday and he thinks I have gastritis and "maybe some other things" that he is testing for. while at home I had a bowel accident yesterday and one this morning. I chalked this mornings up to "too much coffee" but its still annoying. I had a bowel movement early this morning and then the involuntary one later on in the morning. luckily I was wearing a total dry and it kept it contained so all I had to do was clean up the best I could and hop in the shower. im terrified about losing control in public. I've stopped doing morning appointments when I can. that way I can clean out as best I can and hopefully be ok when out. if this happens in public and I can't shower what's the best way to clean up? I always carry wipes with me along with 2 or 3 diapers. but It seems to get everywhere on my backside. any tips? urinary I can deal with. bowel not so much.

One tip is to do some research you will be quite surprised where you can find shower facilities. I have a solar shower in my car if I can’t find shower facilities to clean up! Truck stops and leisure complex are great too. I keep a daily bladder diary detailing everything if I have a rare bowel accident then I add this to the diary for my medical team to analyse.

You have my empathy; bowel accidents are the pits. Until you get definitive advice from your gastroenterologist, you might try JD's advice about bowel cleanout enemas before spending an extended time away from home. To those you could add suppositories and/or overnight laxatives. I also use Nullo or Devrom, so that the odor is diminished when I do have a bowel release. Good luck and keep us informed.
