no problem vent away. I have been in the same sport you were many years ago. Now I just grab my bag and take it into a public restroom if I have to and take care of my business. Is it difficult sometimes, yes but I have come a long way from wondering what to do with my life now.

Although I do not have either UC or Crohn's, I do have another GI disease, gastroparesis. I second the advice to have a well-stocked bag handy at all times when you're out and about, and keep a mental running tally of the ETA to the nearest handicapped facility at all times. I have seen TV commercials for immune system modulators; I hope that your doctor will help you find the one that works for you. Good luck and keep us informed.

If you’re on Facebook, search groups relating to UC and Crohn’s. There’s several. This board is quiet with minimal traffic. I’m a member of a couple groups for my rare disorders on Facebook. There are thousands of members with the same conditions as me. We talk about everything pertaining to our illnesses without shame or embarrassment. If you are offended, you don’t belong there. They are well moderated. If I have a question about something with my disorder that I’m facing...odds are somebody else has dealt with it too. I always get responses. Dozens and sometimes hundreds if it’s popular enough. Like Patrick, I too have gastroparesis. He’s the only one I know here who has it. But in my groups being it pertains to my illnesses, it’s really prevalent. Lots and lots of people have it. Yes we frequently talk about incontinence too. It’s just something we deal with. No shame.
