Thanksgiving

Sat Oct 27, 2018 10:46 pm

My wife and I are flying to our family for thanksgiving and will be there for about a week. So will need to send at least a bag of diapers over before hand. We are planning to talk to my sister in-law to see if we can ship the box to them because we will be staying with them, but I'm not sure if I should tell them what the package is. I feel like sense it is there home that sending something with saying what it is feels wrong in a way.

Hi Bob

When ever we travel we inform the hotel of my incontinence issue so they can protect the bed ahead of time with a waterproof matress cover, (we have not stayed at family or friends homes since I have had to deal with bladder issues) but if we were I would let them know ahead of time. Its better to be open and honest and let them know about your medical issue leaks happen and you dont want to have to explain after the fact and have to deal with a damaged mattress.

I know its embarrassing to bring up your need for diapers and a mattress cover but thier family and they should understand and besides having a large box arrive before you arrive will create more curiosity and questions and they will be speculating whats inside.

Remember to send a few more diapers then you think you need as a just incase since you will nkt be able to get extra supplies if you run out or there are a few defective diapers in the shipment

Have fun with your family and have a great Thanksgiving

I saw that recently north shore care is now doing fed ex drop off - which means you can ship to Walgreens stores and pick up there. Could be a solution for you if you’re not wanting to share your private medical situation. Also, airlines will check a medical bag for each person for freee. I’ve used this for diapers several times in the last year. It works well (although I may travel with fewer than you, I use them primarily at night).
