Unfortunately this problem is not uncommon among young female athletes. It is most prevalent in impact sports.

I wish just for once, someone would write something that brings attention to the fact that young men deal with this too.
yes, we all know it's more likely to affect women, but that's all the more reason that we need to shed light on this as a male problem too. It's nearly impossible to find any resources discussing OAB/urge IC for men that doesn't blindly assume it's the prostate. It's appalling how under served men are in this regard.

I have to agree admittedly as a whole I think incontinence and bladder issues are underreported as many people (myself included), especially men, are often too embarrassed to bring it to the attention of doctors.

The article is very true although I'm not so sure if the incontinence problem is getting more common. In my opinion there is just more people telling about it, going to a doctor etc. than before. After all for most people it's pretty embarrassing problem, so they avoid talking about it with their family, lovers or best friends. I know this exactly because this is exactly how I have behaved in the past. Not now of course, but before I always ran to a dark little room and went crying alone, not telling about my problems anybody. Of course it's an metaphor, I didn't literally ran to dark corners to cry alone, but yeah, I was kind of keeping every one in the dark for as long as I can and so did people in the past more often than they do now.
