losing feeling/sensation

Hey guys,
Recently I've been noticing that can't always tell when I have an accident anymore. For the bladder incontinence I could never tell but over time I've lost sensation down there and I've not been able to tell I've just had a bowel accident no matter how bad it is.
Those happened during physiotherapy, I couldn't tell that I had a major accident till I got a faint smell.....(don't wear plastic pants for physiotherapy). I think my physiotherapist smelt it too......I don't know but I was so embarrassed I immediately left to change. I can still feel having an accident sometimes, but majority of the time it takes a few minutes for me to realize.... I'm hoping I don't loose all sensation. The doctor has said that this is not unusual because of the skin damage I got when I was sick.
Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Whew! You have more medical difficulties than I care to contemplate. Would an EMG exam show which nerves are no longer working? I've only had one EMG, and it was no fun. However, if that, or a similar test could guide you, it might be useful.

Ow, that's really bad. I can't relate to this unfortunately, but one guy I knew - not directly though, but through incontinence group said he had very similar issues. It was like two years ago though and people were giving him lots of different solutions, actually it was quite a lively discussion. You have to listen to your doctor, also I know it's a little bit of and old post, but what kind of skin damage did you have? Clearly your nerves must have been seriously injured to not feel it at all or take some time to realize it. I hope we can hear back from you if your situation is a bit better now.

I’m sure you’ve probably thought of this, but have you seen a neurologist? I know when I see my neuro doc, they check for perineal numbness. I believe it happens with some types of neuropathies.
