Constant pressure/Neverending urge to go

Fri Jun 02, 2017 4:15 am

So its been quite some time sense I had the need to wear any type of protection or any issues with having any accidents to the point where I thought I could put this all behind me. However for the past week Ive been having the constant pressure on my lower abdomen and the need to go every 30 min, and when I do go its mostly no more then a couple oz. The pressure doesnt hurt at all but noticable enough to not allow for me to be fully comfortable at times, I dont know if I should go to the doctors or just wait it out. Has anyone gone through something like this, what would you do in ny shoes?

Hi Bob

I would recommend you see your doctor, constant pressure could be a sign of bladder retention.
its always better to get things checked out.

Could be a UTI, retention, or the beginning of interstitial cystitis. You should go check checked out. Keep us in the loop, let us know what you find out!!

Bobsan48, what you describe could also be prostatitis. An easy first step would be to ask your GP to perform a digital rectal exam. If it's prostatitis, your doctor will know.

So found out the problem after doing some research. Found out that the medication I was taking for my OAB (Oxybutin) had a major side effect which matched what was happening to me. So stoped taking it and feeling better, I still need to contact my urologist to see what we are going to do about this!

I'm surprised to read that Oxybutynin actually causes that feeling of constant pressure for you. But if dropping the meds works for you, great.

That's like some antidepressants advertising that suicide is one of the major side affects. You're taking a drug to help and yet it can make an aspect of the problem even worse. This is one of the reasons I opted out of continuing to explore pharmacological options.

I am not surprised that it gave you the felling of having to void. One thing that I learned as a nurse is that any medication can have an adverse effect on some people. No pill is perfect.
