New and question about the VA

Mon May 29, 2017 11:06 pm

I am thinking about signing up for VA medical as my state medicaid may be running out soon, I wanted to see what my options were and possible get some Va disability started up this might be impossible but we can try. anyways a little history

I have had 3 major back surgeries on my l4-5 stating in 04 and it only took the DR's 6 month of screwing around to decide to do the surgeries, in the mean time i was loosing my ability to walk and began having bladder control issues. from all the symtons it was Cauda equina syndrome. Unfortunately i was on state medical and they took for ever to pre-authorize my surgery leaving me with a numb butt aching legs most days along with no bladder control. the next 2 surgeries were a little better with the Dr.s listening to me except the last one who all he wanted to do was injections and therapy that was before he did a actual MRI on my back "his comment was it must have not been too bad as i never asked for pain meds.

my back is OK after this last surgery about 6 years ago as long as i don't push it or be stupid.

will the VA pay for my supplies like medicaid does "The absolute cheapest diapers made" or any thing better. and how can i prove this back injury happened if my medical records from the Navy are so clean they are sterile. LOL they hated me and lost almost everything. Like the fact i jumped out of a Semi trailer after a cruise with a heavy load and hurt my back they gave me Motrin and light duty for a week. But they put me back on regular duty after my LT saw me riding my bike to the mess hall for lunch... so i was faking it... and they never believe me again.

So i cope...

I have been focusing on dealing with my special needs son who is Autistic and putting my self though school for children and human services i am currently a special needs advocate here in the community helping families who are living in shelter with their medical needs

Sorry for my rambling and poor grammar as i am dyslexic on top of all of this

I can only give you tribal knowledge as I am not a VSO. I would request your C-File. Below is how to do that. I also find this link to help explain it better.
http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/ ... -file.html Since this is not dealing with incontinence, I will message you with more information, but the below is good for all VETS to know. I requested mine and found items back to early 1990s, when I first came into the Navy.

Please print out your request and sign it and in order to avoid further
delay be sure to fax your request to the:
DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS
CLAIMS INTAKE CENTER
PO BOX 5235
JANESVILLE, WI 53547-5235
TOLL FREE: 844-822-5246 (844VACLAIM)
Thank you for contacting the VA Records Management Center (RMC). In order to process a request for a copy of your VBA records under the Privacy Act we
will need a written request with a wet signature. Your request should
include your full name, mailing address, phone, VA File number , what
specifically you are requesting , such as STRs or the entire C-file or you
can use the VA Form 3288 Caution-http://www.va.gov/vaforms/va/pdf/VA3288.pdf
Please note we are not allowed by law to send records via email.
Currently, the VA RMC has a large inventory of Privacy Act / Freedom of
Information Act (FOIA) requests. Our average turnaround time to respond is
approximately 120 days; the requests are processed in the order in which
they are received. Please understand that all Veterans are our number one
priority. We will continue to work diligently to improve the timeliness of
our responses and reduce our inventory of requests.
The RMC will provide your records on a compact disc (CD) for use on a
personal computer. Only records of 10 pages or more are eligible for CD
printing. The CD is able to be viewed on all computers through the use of
Adobe Reader software, which is available online for free.

The VA called today to let me know i was approved for VA medical benefits and helped me setup a myhealth portal as well as transferred me to the call center to put in a Primary Care provider request. they will call me Monday or Tuesday schedule my Apt. Hoping to schedule a initial Physical.

i am hoping at this apt. i will bring up my Incontinence issue as well as all my other broken parts LOL.

at some point i do need to ask about VA diaper and the process so i have a veg clue i did find MedSurge and have been looking at the vendor list and i kind of have clue that Medicaid gave me slightly better if not the same diapers as teh Va will provide esp since i am on the larger side like XL sided diapers
