A different question

Tue Feb 21, 2017 2:53 am

To just put it out there, since I can't think of a delicate way to phrase it: Has anyone ever faked "going to the bathroom"?

Begin rather new to this still, and probably more self-conscious than I need to be, I found myself in a rather odd situation at work.

Usually when I visit clients, it's in a structured presentation/meeting/discussion format with lots of people where there are the usual planned breaks to get up, stretch, and go do your business. It's been easy to get "lost" in that shuffle.

Today was a small, in-person, working session with just 4 of us working in a small room with restroom just off to the side. My NorthShore Supreme can easily handle 6 hours, 8 or more with only slightly monitoring my fluid intake. After working all morning and having everyone else excuse themselves at least once, I began to feel self-conscious about not having gone. So while lunch was being delivered, I excused myself, went into the bathroom and... just waited... then flushed, washed, and walked out to at least keep up the appearance of normal toileting.

How paranoid is that?

Nothing wrong with it... You do what you have to do to camouflage or hid that something is different about you. Fact is that if you were in a meeting with anyone and were drinking, eating and relaxing for 4 or more hours you would have to get up and take a pee. It just so happens that you really don't need to get up. I would say that you're probably not the only one that has done it. I know that when I had day time issues that I would go in just to check it I needed to change, and as I was in a pul-up would try to go as well so not on common..

Yep, not alone. Otherwise you stand out and invite unwanted questions.

Add me to the list. My incontinence is nobody else's business; it would only become their business if I were to have a visible wet spot on my pants. Excusing myself to change is appropriate.

I do not. Although in that same situation I have had someone comment I must have one heck of a bladder. I just told them it was something like that, and nothing else was said about it.

I can certainly understand wanting to keep up your outward appearances though. If anything, taking a fake bathroom break is good for at least getting up and moving around a little (something I need to do more often).
