odor prevention

Tue Nov 29, 2016 10:20 pm

I finally figured out how to mask the odor of wet diapers in the garbage. What I do is wrap the wet brief in aluminum foil and then put it in a plastic bag before putting in the trash. I've been doing this for about 3 weeks and am pleased with the results. I use the cheapest foil I can find, so it is economical as well.

Every time I change out the trash bag in my diaper pail I just spray a little lysol into the can. As long as I keep the lid closed I don't get any odors from it. And I sleep just 5-6 feet from my diaper pail too, so I know.

I use a diaper disposal system and as a result any odor is locked in to this and no smells in the trash bin.

I use my son's diaper pail. My wife jokes that my diapers take up too much space in his pail.

His diapers are obviously full of pee and poo and with the lid on the room doesn't smell. Maybe a tiny bit by the time the pail is full but that just means it's time to empty it.

we put his poo diapers in plastic dog poo bags. they're lavender scented and cheaper than the same bags marketed for baby diapers simply bc they're marketed for pets.

TWO WORDS... BABY POWDER!!!!... I use scented bags both for my diapers and for my trash can and still have had issues. Now i put just a bit of powder in the big trash bag and then on top of a freshly used bagged diaper and I can get sometime get a hole week out of a 13 gallon bag...
