cleaing the mattress

so i fell asleep without a bed pad under me and i dont have a plastc sheet for my bed yet.
my new "waterproof" pants were NOT waterproof and i leaked all over the bed.
i hope i didnt ruin the mattress but now am left with a soaked mattress.
how do i clean it?

A diluted solution of vinegar and water, spray on/wipe off, and some fan action blowing on it for a day or two should be of some help Puffy

Just as a side note. Justj, the waterproof pants cannot hold liquids. They are only there to cover up the material inside that absorb urine. It is always worth wearing something like boxers on the outside of a ddisposalble as such boxers can absorb leaks from the disposable - leaks that would otherwise not be retained by the waterproof pants.

Use a solution of Vinegar, water and baking soda. It is pretty good at getting out nasty stains

Get a waterproof cloth mattress cover from walmart. It has barely any rustle to it and won't make you sweat. plus, they are only like $40.

I got the allergy cover years ago, which coincidentally was also labeled as waterproof. I'm glad it is too.

Like the others mentioned though, "waterproof" is a bit of an exaggeration. It's more like a temporary dam where it will hold back pee for a while, but you still need something to absorb that pee before it still overflows past it anyways.

I have cleaned a mattress once. The non wowen mattress cover turned out to be useless.
I took the mattress into the bathtub, and used the shower to force the water through.
It got rid of the worst disaster, but could have been even better.
At that time I did not know of the use of vinegar.

Now to protect my mattress, I have a plastic sheet with terry surface.
On top of that, I have a thin washable mattress. It increases the comfort,
and absorbs leaks before they reach too far.
This is the best solution I have found.

I agree to that and do much the same. A pee-soaked mattress is an ugle looking and smelling item and that odor
eventually permeates much of your living space. Avoid that !

I still have a heavy duty rubber sheet that fits down to the bed quite well. On top, I'll place a lined cover or bed pad
that can be washed if sheets get sprinkled. That rarely happens.

I have a heavy duty vinyl sheet (looks like a shower curtain) that I take for travel. I put that down and use a large disposable
pad over, should there be any nighttime leaks (there rarely are).

Aside from all that, I trust a good diaper, one or two boosters, and a loose fitting pair or rubber or vinyl bloomers as cover.

That might be a bit much for some, but it's saved me consequences a number of times AND I rest without anxiety or tension
that my bladder incontinence might become someone else's problem. I keep this very private, thank you !
