Switching to Attends

Well not my choice, but my VA doc has moved on to something else which means I get a new doctor. Well in the process I have been switched from what I usually get over to Attends Dermadry complete due to the ease of ordering it. They seem to have mixed reviews. Has anyone here used them and what are your thoughts on them?

Sorry to hear that. I'm in the military facility and am also in the process of getting a new doctor since my old one just left. It's a PITA for sure.

Attends suck bad in my opinion. Barely a step up from depends, if that. I'd protest being switched on, and fight fir something better if I were you.

Thanks Brian. My nurse is willing to do the paper work to switch me back, but it just sucks when you have found something that works for you and you get switched without notice. I did tell her I am willing to try them just to see. I did find a video on them where the medical store poured 1 1/2 liter of water on it. At first I thought wow that is a lot, but than I realized she poured it from top to bottom. Plus, it was on a table flat and not any weight being applied to it. Wonder if they did the same test, but this time concentrated on one area of absorption with weight on it.

Batman, I did not like the Attends Derma dry. For me, the absorbency was adequate, no complaints there, but the fit and comfort were horrible. So much so that i switched to attends 8. Although, i did use derma dry advance, and not derma dry complete. Your results may differ. I guess all I can say is try a sample. When I complained to J and B, she said a lot of people don't like the new attends. Attends had a good product with the breathable brief, and then took it and completly ruined it. It was one of the things that spurred me to go to the pocket diapers. Now that my issues are back, I probably will order some more.

Well they are suppose to arrive tomorrow so I will see. If they don't work, it might be time to see about getting a better diaper through the VA since paper work has to be done anyways. Especially with the summer heat causing my current ones to break apart due to sweating so much when outside. I did notice the VA does have the SOSecure Containment Swim Brief in their potential items to get. Might ask to about get them so I can try swimming again or being out on the water.

Thanks for asking EJ. Well either I misread the UPS notification or I just got my days confused which seems to happen a lot now a days with a lot of stuff. They came today and my initial thought was they are very thin and how in the world will they hold up. I did notice they have leak guards so those might help with containment. I am still going to have a booster in them to help. I am going to give it a couple of days before making a decision if I go with them or not.

If your doctor is gonna write a custom diaper script, ask for something better..... like ConfiDry!

Hi batman. I am an older member of the forum. I sometimes lurk but rarely post anymore. I am a veteran of the Marine Corps and also use the VA for some of my care. Mainly for the diapers I receive from my local VAMC. I receive Confidry 24/7. I fought a hard battle and was met with alot of rejection when asking for high end incontinence products. The first thing I recommend is starting at your local patient advocate. They can help you make your case for higher quality products. I asked my doctor for several weeks for his assistance. I did not have much luck. He simply did not know how to get such items. I have received such products before from the VA so I knew it was possible. The patient advocate set up a meeting between me and the Chief of Pharmacy where I pled my case. He agreed I needed such products and put his purchasing agents to work. They were able to secure a supplier (XPmedical) and get the ball rolling. XPmedical does alot of business with the VA so don't let them tell you it can't be done. They are an approved and registered supplier to the VA. If you have an understanding pharmacy, and a little patience, it can be done.
