Better russell pad before use to dee-pulp it?

Sun May 15, 2016 4:39 pm

I having problems with my Tena Flex pads because they don't seem to soak up very well and when I dee-pulp them they tend to break up when wet which I don't like..... Do you russell your pads up , I mean by this giving them a shake before use?

Most disposable pads aren't going to soak up pee very well to begin with. They are intended for only slight leaks, or for when changing, but should be able to handle slight leaks without any problems. How much soaking up are you talking about here? If it's not much then you may need to try a different brand- ruffling not required.

If it is a lot, then you will probably need a better pad. I use the reusable/washable kind of pads for at night. The few times I've had a major fail/leak it had absorbed quite a lot and still manage to keep my bed dry any ways.

That's not the same type of pad, Brian.

The tena flex is more line a belted undergarment. I think cough is using the word pad as a surrogate for diaper.

cough cough

I unpack my diapers (Molicare) and place them loosely in a drawer as this allows them to naturally expand. I had awful problems with capacity issues when using direct from the packet. I also give the diaper a bit of a shake before putting on too. Thanks to a member advice on this the diaper now holds what it needs to.

Oh, see this is why you should properly refer to something the way it is intended to be called. A diaper is a diaper, no need to be ashamed of that.

And since we are now talking about diapers, I too would recommend unpacking them from the bag and letting them expand some first. Others have also mentioned folding the diaper lengthwise to create a sort of channel down the middle. This will help direct and hold your pee so it can get absorbed better without leaking.

At first I was wondering what dee-pulp meant. Know I get it. I always unpack mine and place them in a draw along with the guard I wear with them. This gives them plenty of time to get back to normal size after being packed tight for so long.

A fold down the middle, and a fluff, and stretch out is not out of the norm, lots do it to get better wicking ability from the filler, whatever they may use. Puffy
