Cost of diapers in US?

Thu Jan 15, 2015 9:55 am

I'm going on a business trip to SF in start February, and although I'll bring supplies with me, I have to have an emergency backup plan if my luggage get's lost in transit, and since I have to switch planes three times to get to SF from Denmark, therefore the chance of my luggage getting delayed is a factor I have to deal with.
I looked at walmart website and saw that a package of 14 Molicare Super Plus costs 36USD  ...that's three times the cost of the same qty in EU ???? in Denmark I get the same package for approx. 11 USD for one package.

I didn't think diapers was that expensive in the US (And I cross my fingers that my luggage will arrive with me).

What you are seeing there is just one reason why healthcare is such an issue here in the states. The companies that make drugs and medical supplies control the prices and to an extent have an influence into what laws are passed in the country too. That then in turn drives the cost of everything up including insurance.

It's also worth noting, Walmart doesn't actually sell Molicare in stores. That's an online purchase only.

In fact, premium diapers aren't really carried in any store here. Some medical stores have a few brands, but most stores carry only depends, tena pads (no diapers), and perhaps a store brand.
