Getting through TSA

Mon Jul 21, 2014 8:08 am

Has anyone run into difficulties dealing with TSA while wearing diapers, wet or dry?

Closest thing I have had to an issue with the TSA was the first time I had to travel with protection on, I want thought one of the full body scanners and was asked to step aside. I was scared they could tell but the only thing they did was test my hands for any explosive residue. They never asked me what I was wearing or made a scene.

I have been through TSA airport checks multiple times. Once, after being patted down, although I had on a dry diaper, I was pulled out for a private room inspection. I was asked to drop my trousers. When they saw through my real plastic pants that I was wearing a diaper, they stopped there. Thankfully they were very professional about it.

In contrast, my wearing a diaper has not triggered a body scan to flag me for inspection. The one time it happened when I was traveling overseas was because I had forgotten a tube of Chapstick in my pocket (not the diaper). Again, very professional.

Thanks, John. Luckily, I have a Known Traveler's Number and an active GOES status which should help.
