toting protection discreetly while living in an apartment.

..............among other things..
Or this post could be titled: Random things about dealing with incontinence going through my head.

Hello laidies and gents! As the post title alludes to.. i have something on my mind. That is, for those of us who buy locally, not on the inernet, for whatever reason, be it convinenence, lower price, you dont really care who sees you in the store type of deal..in my case, all of the above, plus if i didnt buy somehting locally today.. i would have run out of briefs.. NOT a good situation for sure. Anywhoo.. im worndeing.. for those of you who do buy locally.. and live in an apartment complex (I live in a high rise designated for seniors and those with disabilites) how exactly do you go about transporting the package of diapers from your car to your apartment without anyone seeing whats inside? This is partly to get your input and also partly to tell how ive dealt with it. I used to take the briefs out of the package and put them in my statchel.. but since it was a 24-pack of attends.. that took multiple trips up and down.. once i used two brown paper bags and a plastic bag.. other times, I happened to be coming back with my laundry from a weekend at my parent's house, and i just hid it under my clean clotehes.. and one time i had a freind carry it up.. yeah i know.. that was cheap of me..but he didnt mind, and he got a laugh out of it...

About buying in a store vs online and embarassment.. i don't know why, but i feel a LOT less embarassed and self conscious about buying briefs at the local small pharmacy/medical supply store versus the local say walmart or K-Mart. Or even rite aid or walgreens. Well first off.. none of those places carry attends.. and second.. theres more people to notice what your buying, and third.. well, i work ant walmart.. so id really rather not buy diapers there.. especially not during 3rd shift. But also, it seems that people who work at medical supply stores are more used to seeing young people buy diapers if that makes sense?

Also, one random thought i had was why i was so self conscious about bringing diapers into the building... after all i live in senior housing..its a good bet a sizable majority of the residints here also use them. How do i know.. well in the lobby theres a big sign that says dont throw adult diapers in the incnerator.. it wouldnt be there if there werent people using diapers.. so why does it bother me if they know that i wear them? I don't know... you don't exactly go around advertising what underwear you wear do you? be it hanes, or boxers or diapers... I don't know..

Also.. i don't know how many people can relate to this situation, or have any advice..but im just putting out this to share.. as you know, i work nights, and once i get my diapers thru insurance, once a month they will arrive via fedex. and the only way Fedex can get in the building to deliver my package is by buzzing me on the intercom... So.. they wake me up.. ergo.. i have this to look forward to.. being woken up once a month to get my supply of diapers.. granted.. i did ask if fedex can call me beforehand so im not startled awake.. but still.. Pehaps things would be easire if they sent them to my parents house..but worst case scenario I don't get cured and need these for a while.. what would i do when my parents go away in the winter time? Yeah, it might be easier moving back with mom and dad..but i dont want to. Oh also theres the space issue. If my supplies are anything like last time...where am i going to put everything? I rent a zero bedroom efficency unit until at least Aug...

Well, I'll figure it out.. if i can handle incon for a year.. this is nothin now..i am looking forward to this urolgoist appoitment tomorrow.. will definely let u all know what happens! Peace out!

Geek, I know....the management of this requires a lot of adjustment. I got a smoking deal on a case of Tena Classic (100ct)and a case of Attends Breathable briefs (72ct) on eBay for about $83.....should last awhile....it's the first time I've ordered diapers on eBay.....insurance doesn't cover them for me BUT they DO cover my catheter supplies, which with my new prescription stuff just shipped out today.....they are shelling out a pretty penny for Foley catheter supplies for me for the next 2 months or so.......anyway.....I wanted to lend my support as I myself will be going to the urologist tomorrow as well for a repeat cystoscopy AND the urodynamics testing......I'm hoping for some answers......so best of luck to you tomorrow........you won't be getting poked and prodded alone......

I use large canvas tote bags to carry my incontinence supplies when I purchase them at local pharmacies. I have not found anything on pharmacy shelves too big for my tote bags. Good luck.

I carry a duffle bag and buy my diapers from the chemist or local supermarket. After I've purchased my supplies, they go straight into the duffle bag, which is done up and nobody is the wiser, apart from the supermarket teller, and whoever is behind me in the queue.
Since these people are strangers to me, they don't know these supplies are for me, nor do i tell them. For all they know, I could be buying for an elderly relative.
