An update from a long quiet member

I thought I would let everyone know how i am. This board was invaluable when I first started with my incontinence issues at the end of 2010. I thought that I should pay it back in hopes that someone else finds this and find my experience helpful. I spent all of 2011 wearing protection all day because of my bad urges/leaks, it was a tough time. I didn't need anything at night, but was getting up 3-5 times a night to use the bathroom. At the beginning of 2012 my wife suggested I get a sleep study done. She had gotten concerned at the sleep patterns she was seeing. I would stop breathing and gasp for air many times during the night. I had my sleep study done that spring. I was diagnosed with severe obstructive and central sleep apnea. I knew what obstructive was, but never heard of central. Simply put, central is where the brain simply stops sending signals to breathe while asleep. I was given a CPAP machine and off I went. It took me a LONG time to get used to the mask but I did. By the end of last year, my urge incontinence had gotten much better. The leaks stopped and the urges had gotten alittle easier to deal with. Alas, it was not all roses. At the same time I got better during the day, I started to wet the bed at night. I was sleeping so good, that I wasn't waking up to use the bathroom. I began wearing diapers to bed and stopped wearing during the day. Fast forward to today. I still have frequent urination and urges, but it is not affecting me to the point that I need to wear anything. I still wear diapers to bed, thankfully the wet nights seem to be getting less frequent. I'd rather wear diapers to bed than to have to wear during the day, so in the end, I am not that unhappy where I am now.

Anyway, I had read others post updates and felt that I owed that to the great people in this group.

Thanks!

Thanks for the update CF... :) nice to hear of someone how has gotten answers to some of their problems, although I am sure you would have preferred that they didn't find anything that needed any treatment at all. I guess a good sleep is better then it being all broken and unrestful, and if you need to wear at night, so bo it. I am in the same leaky boat there, better to wear then let the getting up 5 times a night wear me out! Puffy
