Thanks to this board's encouragement.... I finally did it -- I tested a tabbed brief today. It was a quiet work from home day, so it was a safe environment for me to test in. I wore the Attends Premier brief for 7+ hours using it at my normal hydration levels. This diaper gave me enough confidence to name it as a contender for away from home/office situations.

Overall I liked the comfort of this brief over the bulk of the NS GoSupreme (my current standby). The price is the same for me for both brands. It was absorbent and didn't present any problems throughout the day (no gymnastics were attempted). The only slight negative was my mishandling the lower tapes putting it on. Somehow it got stuck to the outer side and by the time I pulled that apart, the tape lost some of its stickiness. But despite all that, the refastened tape held through the day. As a tape rookie, I just need more practice.

I still have other briefs to try out. But the experience today has convinced me to look at briefs more seriously.

I have used those and they are pretty decent. one think I wonder about is the fact that Dotmar? has unloaded the Attends brand and Manufacturing so I do hope production
will continue under another company , I did note that the brief was a tad clammy after a few hours.

It's sample test Monday again, with me trying a TENA ProSkin Flex Maxi. I didn't think I would like this diaper given it's open sides and belt design. But having given it a try, I kind of liked this one.

The belt is velcro allowing you to re-attach the tapes as much as needed, especially if you use the toilet. They kindly provided instructions on the front of the diaper, in case you didn't know what you were getting into  The open sides made it more comfortable and airy. The only downside is that you'll want to wear a plastic pant to lock the smell inside.

The cloth based diaper absorbed well (two coffees+ worth) in a morning office (at home) test with no leaks (4.5 hours). It seemed comfortable. My cost Cdn is $1.31 each (healthwick.ca), which I thought was pretty good for a diaper with velcro attachments. This diaper does have leak guards unlike the TENA Super Brief that I tested in the afternoon.

I must say that these samples really help us figure out what works best. The only problem is that I may have trouble choosing later.

The TENA Super Brief was another sample that I recently got. So it was time to test it out in the afternoon. I thought it might serve as a cheaper form of the Flex Maxi. The Super Brief lacks a leak guard however and of course the velcro tapes.

It otherwise felt similar to wear and the tapes did allow me to tighten the fit later on. I don't think the tapes will take much refastening though. The diaper otherwise seemed to be ok (no leaks) and comfortble with my cost at healthwick.ca of $1.29 each.

One observation is that the case unit price and the package unit price are the same at healthwick.ca (you pay less shipping/unit however since the shipping is a fixed price/order). I've seen some eBay instances where the quantity unit price was even higher! Buyer beware.
