Hi all,

I was a long way from home and I had an urgent need to pass a bowel motion. I decided to hold on, since I was at least half an hour from the nearest toilet and I didn't want to mess my pants. As I was walking along, I suddently started to pass the motion without any kind of control. This was back in June.

Then again in July I happened to be in the shower room and was standing near the toilet. I passed wind (without any prewarning) and then had a bowel motion (without my control). It just happened!

I haven't had any episodes since, thankfully. But I'm dreading the next time it happens.

I wondered if this was bowel incontinence and if anyone had any advice. I know that I said earlier in my first post that I had mostly the wet stuff, which I can deal with, but not the bowel incontinence.

Thanks

I'm not being funny but that was a bit unkind. Actually you've just made me feel worse.

I just need some advice on how to deal with it as I'm struggling to cope with the condition.

At least I know now not to say anything to anybody about my incontinence.

Hetty--

The first thing to say is----get this checked out medically. The sudden intensity and lack of sensation suggest something is amiss, and that's what doctors are for. A gastro-enterologist and a urologist seem to be indicated from your posts; if you have to go through a primary-care "gatekeeper", then that's what you'll have to do. I know you might be reluctant to discuss this situation with anyone, but anyone with extensive incontinence experience will tell you that doctors have heard it all.....you will be more embarrassed the first time than they will!

Good luck with getting help with this...keep us posted.

Thanks Gimwell

I do feel embarrassed about the whole thing. The bowel stuff doesn't seem to appear to happen all the time. It appears to be more of the wet stuff.

I was at the bus-stop on my way home and had a sudden flood. I'm just thankfull that I had the protective pants on.

Thanks for the advice and will try to see a specialist. I have found out that my local GP surgery runs a Incontinence session, so I'm going to see if I can book myself in. It's just plucking up the courage to do even this.
