Clothing tricks

Mon Feb 21, 2022 8:16 pm

Here's a good place to add your tricks/tips about clothing. I couldn't find another one started here, if there is one, I apologize.

  • Dark pants hide wet spots and or extra bulk very well
  • Go up one pant size compared to pre-diaper days; the extra bulk won't be noticeable
  • Lined jeans are great in winter time, it looks like flannel, but it's polyester fleece. (I've soaked my socks/shoes without any wet spots on my jeans)
  • Shirts in Tall sizes fit better, and can be almost as long as a onsie

Good recommendations.

I would add that trousers with a gusset in the crotch provide more space to accommodate (and hide) a diaper.

I wear dark trousers with a gusset made by the Duluth Trading Company. They effectively hide my premium diaper with booster pad, cloth pullup, and plastic pants. Someone else here also has mentioned the Duluth Trading Company.

Duluth is also a good source for long shirts.

I’m going to chime in and say I wear camo shorts a lot. I wear them baggy and the pattern also hides wet spots.

In addition to the excellent advice, above, my medical situation makes clothing that facilitates changing a priority. Slip on shoes, easy dressing and undressing undershirts, trousers with hook closures instead of buttons, loose fitting shirts, sweaters, and sweatshirts that cover my diaper bulge are important.

Patrick, excellent points. Which vendors do you use for adaptive clothing?

I’m also interesed in where you get your adaptive clothing. I haven’t had any luck with stuff for amputees.

I really do not have a special vendor, because my wife, daughter, and daughter-in-law buy nearly all of my clothing. They understand my needs, and purchase accordingly.

Look up Stelantis (sp) on the internet. They market adaptive clothing, but I cannot vouch for them, and I doubt that the ladies in my life have bought from them.

Correction: The company that makes adaptive clothing is called Silvert's.
