This post might fall into the "Captain Obvious" category, but I thought I would mention it anyway, in case it helps others starting out.

Early in my start with briefs, I made the mistake of not pulling the front of the brief up high enough before taping. This results in two problems:
  • The waist line is much lower, increasing the chance of leaks at the waist line
  • For males, results in less SAP material at the front, up to the waist line

If the front is taped higher (almost to the belly button), then you have much more absorption available. Making this small adjustment allows me to get by with the TENA Ultra brief. I save 50% by avoiding a premium product. It won't work for everyone, but worth considering.

I have started doing that with my daytime diapers. I used to adjust them so the back and front were equal. Now I adjust the front to be an inch or two higher. No leaks, and I when I change, they are wet all the way up the back.

.....that also helps with leaks around the back of legs.

This is a neat trick, but one word of caution since the pull is different. Don’t tape the diaper too tight by accident as it will strangle your thigh and lead to ligature rashes. I tried this technique and tapes the diaper as I normally would, but this wound up too tight with this adjusted position.

Still a great idea and one I am experiment with now that I know ro keep the lower tapes marginally looser.
