I think I could deal with it. I also would like to get a suprapubic catheter. I'm sure My caregivers & husband would see it as a easier to care for. I have such limited movement or control left in My body though. I don't want to lose what I have. My body does not react well to anesthesia. When I had My feeding tube installed it was a nightmare.

I have heard of children having ileostomies because of fecal incontinence. It can make a lot of difference to a child's social life; they can wear normal underwear and won't have to worry about smells in front of other children. Although, there are other surgical options so perhaps they wouldn't use this if there was an alternative.

Nope. Absolutely not.

I also wouldn't use a catheter to manage urinary incontinence. Retention risking kidney damage yes, but incontinence, no.

Is there anybody in the group that currently has a colostomy ? How is it compared to the alternative ?
