Several people have asked me why I am walking somewhat funny when I was wearing a diaper. This must be because the padding between the legs keeps them somewhat apart. I don't usualy wear diapers outside unless I won't have ready acces to a bathroom & it could be people notice the defference more than by someone who is 24/7. I'm sure no one suspects I am wearing a diaper since this isn't something to suspect of someone my age, but it still makes me uneasy. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

I wear Abena Extra and Xplus underneath all my clothes. Nobody has ever said anything to me about the way I walk. My wife would surely say something about my gait. The xplus is pretty thick. But it doesn't effect me that I know of. Certainly not to the extent that somebody would talk about it. You could try folding the diaper in half longways and creasing it to where its not so bulky between the legs. Thats all I can think of. Maybe somebody else would know better but I have been wearing diapers for 4 years. I've never heard of somebody asking this before. Maybe some of these other people that have been wearing diapers all their lives would know. Just for curiosity's sake...what kind of diapers are you wearing? I know Dry 24/7 are pretty thick. Other than that...I just don't know.

Cheers...

Don

I would think most disposable diapers would not cause this except for the really big ones like the Mollicare Super Plus. I wear cloth diapers at night and I have one diaper that is super thick and it may cause this just a bit.
Normally your legs will press the diaper to fit between your legs. Maybe you should try some different brand. I use the Molicare super and it's perfect for me.

Can't say I have noticed that I waddle in a diaper... Never been behind myself to see if I do! It has never been pointed out to me by anyone that I am walking funny or strange, so chalk the Tena Super into the non-waddle category so to speak. Now, cloth is a totally different story I am not going to devuldge (quack quack, if ya get my drift!)  Puffy (more-so at night!)

I wear Abena disposables during the day, and cloth diapers at night, and I have never noticed, nor has anyone ever said I walk funny. I guess if you had 2, or 3 heavy cloth diapers on you might walk funny, but that much padding is an over kill,.....at least for non-AB/DL's.

In my experiences the general public is so oblivious to the world around them that they won't notice someone walking around in even the thickest diapers.

No offense to anyone, but this post sounds made up.

Unless you are wearing some very thick cloth or multiple premium disposables, I don't think your gait would change much.

Thank you all for your replies, though it looks like I am unique with this problem. It must be because I don't always wear diapers outside so people notice the difference. I work at home & can frequently schedule my outings in ways which let me get by without diapers.
The diapers which elicited comments weren't too thick. One was Depends & the other was a store brand.
The comments I got were all from people who know me well enough to notice the difference & close enough to comment.
I will try Don's idea next time, it might work. I notice that when I stand straight in a diaper my knees don't touch each other the way they do without a diaper.
