Has anyone tried taking a bulking laxative to help control bowel incon? I tried it some time ago but it seemed to cause more trouble with loose stools than it cured. It did add bulk but the softer stool made it harder to control. I wonder though, if I didn't try long enough? |

Have you tried a probiotic like "Align"? It was recommended to me by my Gastroenterologist. You may try it. It is natural bacteria already found in the body. They help in digestion. It won't hurt. Not saying it will work, but you never know. |

I have painful constipation that then turns into liquid stool that I can not control. Bulking laxitaves do not do much for me. I still have big messes, and I do mean really big. I hate how long it takes to clean up after such an accident. |

Justin, I know the feeling. And for me, it also seems to go in cycles. I can go for several days without any accidents and then suddenly I may have 4 messes in one day. Talk about being sick of the cleanup. Makes me want to hide at times. |

Greetings deen_ad Im not sure if there is much of anything out there for those of us, like you and me, who deal with bowel incontinence, as far as a cure. I'm 30 years old and my bowel/bladder incontinence has been profound my whole life. I haven't found anything yet and i had to eventually reach a point where I accepted that this was going to be my life and start looking for ways to live my life first around it and then find a way to have a little fun with it i.e my site. I know fully that this is not a easy or simple issue to accept or move past but it can happen. I do hope that you find something out there that makes dealing with being bowel incontinence a lot easier. if you do, please share. hang in there! kevin |

When I was in rehab last month I worked out a bowel program with the nursing staff. I use a suppository every other day and it has reduced the accidents ten fold. I wait for 15 or 20 minutes after putting in the suppository and I go sit on the toilet until I'm done. It is not the most comfortable option but it sure beats the clean up after bowel leakage. Some people may have to do it every day for it to be effective. |
