Hi 16fr is normal size they use for emptying the bladder.10cc balloon.Get them to check as might need to change size?.but still shouldn't bleed though.
Unless there is a problem with bladder lining etc?
But hope you're better very soon.
Ps chase them up for valve aswell so you can atleast be mobile

Good move, Doug. You ought not to be in that much pain. I mean really you shouldn't be in pain at all. of course some may be the bladder spasms due to the foreign body in there (the catheter) but that can be fixed.

I hope they can come up with something for you quickly as you should not be suffering as you are. Keep us all posted - we will all be thinking of you!

Hi doug how you doing now?
Been doing some digging and reading various posts and it looks like bleeding is comming from bladder lining thats inflamed for some reason so need to get that dealt with!
The leaking is proberly that they need to find correct size for you and balloon
for you/size as not sure what they have given you ie balloon size?
Proberly find that spasms are from inflammation and feeling balloon onit.
But once settled down/cause sorted out it should settle down then?

They took the foley out. Things are kind of working again. Intermittent cath when needed.

The blood is coming from my bladder. I passed a voiding test after the foley was removed. At 100 ml I started having spasms. I was able to relax and get most out without straining. I was told "NO STRAINING!". The nurse said if it doesn't flow out naturally cath, then call her to let her know I'm having trouble again.

Thanks for all the advice. It made the week more manageable.

Doug

Hey Doug, glad to hear that you are suffering with that thing anymore... I could not imagine a week with one in, just not a fun time at all... hope it all gets back to what is normal for you, without having to cath to empty. Have a restful weekend, 8) Puffy

I ended up with either a flu or infection. My urologist got me some antibiotics to help fight off any infections. I'm feeling pretty nasty right now. Hopefully things will improve soon.

The urologist also told my to intermittently cath if things don't flow naturally every 4 to 6 hours. So far I haven't had to do that. Spasms trigger an emptying every few hours.
