It was real hard to accept that I had to start wearing diapers all the time. The stigmata of only babies or wierd people wore diapers was hard to overcome. But having a couple accidents in public was even harder and more embarising to deal with. Expecially having a messy accident in the middle of the store with everyone staring at me. |

Post subject: | dealing with incontinence |
It was real hard at first to get used to being in diapers but life goes on. I just take it one day at a time and keep going. Life is too short as it is to worry about some of the things that life throws at us. Like they say, when given lemons, make lemonade, hehe. Having incontinence is a life altering event. Weather it be from childhood or getting it later in life. Its not just the physical effects of it and dealing with what ever caused it, but its also a mental altering event. It can be real hard mentally to accept having incontinence and having to wear diapers again. Lots of people are too embarrassed to go to their Dr and tell them that they are having urinary problems. That attitude could even kill you if there is a serious medical problem. Its very very important to see your Dr and find out what is causing the incontinence. Some cases can even be cured or, at least, helped. |

I just realize that there's people out there with even worse problems. I also find that talking about it with a few close and trusted friends also helps a lot emotionally. The biggest thing I found was to disassociate the word "diapers" with babies. That helped me a great deal in overcoming the shame. |
