Post subject:  The cloth vs disposable debate rages on in my head...

Figuring out which diapering solution works best for my current situation, lifestyle, work setting, and home life is still up in the air. I have multiple disabilities that impair organization and executive function, an asset for managing cloth diapers. Yet, disposables that are super absorbent cost an arm and a leg. Having maximum absorbency is much more crucial now than it used to be.. because I am hydrating more often than I used to to avoid recurring kidney stones. As a result, my urine production has increased a lot. So has my incontinence episode frequency, as well as volume. No surprise there. The good news is that as long as I keep my urine dilute, my skin is much more comfortable, even in traditional cloth with no stay dry liner. Flannel is really good for that. I doubled my flannel diaper and didn't feel wet despite multiple episodes. Flannel prefolds are where it's at. Very comfortable, very absorbent. But very bulky. Using the T8 has produced mixed results. Very comfortable, very absorbent, but a pain in the butt to get completely dry after washing. Believe it or not, I am more comfortable in a flannel prefold even when wet as long as its doubled than I am in a Better Dry. The top sheet feels like sandpaper. I've sworn off using them. I'm trusting Northshore and Forsite now. Seni was good, but the tabs are flimsy. Abena is a possiblity, but I haven't used those in a while. Meanwhile, it might be worth it to look into taking Ditropan XL twice a day to reduce the bladder spasming episodes maybe? Have to talk to my urologist about that.

On FB I saw advertised a gizmo that looks like a bicycle seat that you sit on and it stimulates the pelvic floor, giving them a work out and for men whose incontinence is muscle related, it can be a total game changer. I suspect some of my issues are muscle related but not all of them. Its muscle plus nerves. I have a similar device and it was expensive. It did not feel the most comfortable having the stimulation on.. felt like needles in my abdomen. But I did seem to have improvement over muscle control stopping the flow of urine. So, perhaps in the future I will pursue this. But not right now. Not with my current debt. Right now, my goal is to survive married life, pay the rent, keep the lights on and food on the table.

As of right now, I plan on using disposables more than cloth, because the washing machine in the laundry room keeps having mechanical issues, and I can't keep up washing an entire cloth inventory from my bathroom by hand. Its just too much work. My credit card bill is sky high, but I'll survive. I do laundry at my parents house, and have been washing my flannel diapers there too, but when they are here they give me a hard time about doing the prewash and main wash... so.. have to be strategic about that. Also, they are gone in the winter and will be shutting off the water in their house. So.... the dilemma continues. Need disposables but can't afford them. Need cloth diapers for comfort but cant wash them convinelntly.
Sooner or later this situation will resolve itself. It has to. There has to be hope, a light at the end of the tunnel. Please, dear Lord.

Peace out!

Rob
