I have a lovely fiancée who, among a myriad of other conditions has OAB. She takes Myrbetric and oxybutin, but still uses the bathroom hourly and she says she still has times where she doesn't quite make it and leaves a puddle on the floor or has urine down her leg. Boy does that sound familiar. Even more familiar is when she told me she has wet spots. I asked her this info because I recognized patterns that I used to have. She said that going to the bathroom frequently got her in trouble at work, and she said that shes on myrbetric. Without the myrbetric and oxybutin, she would probably be even more frequwntly the bathroom and or wetting herself. I told her she's exaclty the way I used to be before I tried using protection. I got tired of wet underwear. I asked her to think about trying protection just at work and to just stop teh wet spots on her underwear. Visiting the toilet hourly must be inconvinent, but I don't want to push anything on her. I know i would be inconvinenced with it at my work..

Any tips on convincing her? She seems chained to the bathroom but still leaks..

Peace out!

Rob

As you already know, that is tough to do. I think I would approach it by introducing her to online resources that talk about OAB and IC. Allow her to learn that this is not a unique problem and how others manage it. Best of luck.

I think what got me into wearing diapers again was that my friend realized I kept having accident and let me know that diapers were an option. She helped me through that, Not, while I will still try to find a bathroom (more accurately toilet), at least I know that I can relax in the knowledge that I have a bathroom on me in case I cannot make it to a toilet.

I'd suggest giving it time and being supportive and understanding. My wife has been amazingly supportive through all my trials with IC but even she would be hesitant to wear full-on protection (as opposed to a pad, which is apparently ok with her). At some point, she may realize that she is missing out on a lot of life by being tied to a restroom and the constant rush to avoid an accident.
