For RWI. possibility of testing diaper w/fecal containment?

Fri Dec 10, 2021 9:33 pm

HI, this is for Jason at RWI with a quesiton.

Your videos on diaper testing are awesome. But I had an idea recently that it would perhaps not be a bad idea to somehow test a particlar diaper's ability to contain solid waste for us poor unfortunate souls who also contend with bowel incontinence. I have the unfortunate distinction of falling into the category of occasional bowel incontinence due to constipation. If not all diapers are made equally to contain urine, wouldnt the same be said for fecal matter? I know for myself, when I had a bowel accident in a Tena, when I was forced to sit on my bike to expidte matters, It DID NOT contain the fecal matter :( It would be interesting to explore whether leak guards are absolutely necessary always to contain fecal matter and if so, how tall of leak guards are necessary. What would also be features to look for in a diaper beside leak guards? I have read that a dimple in the middle helps give room for fecal matter and provides a channel if the user needs to sit, so the matter has room to move and compress without escaping out the diaper. I'm not sure if this would be feasible to test, or what a suitable sanity stand in for feces would be, but I think it is an idea worth looking into. What say you all? Would you rather have scientific test run on your diaper to make sure it will contain your nastiest bowel episodes? I know I would.

Peace out!

Rob
