Hi everyone new to posting here but have incontinence due to enlarged prostate sometimes i cant pee at all. The dr says that a foley catheter might work out but not sure about th e long term effects of long term catheter use thank you all for your answers |

Chicken, I've had my share of prostate problems, but a foley catherter is only a temporary measure. The foley catherter has the bubble on the end that prevents the catheter from coming out accidently. Catheters can easily cause infections. You can self cath yourself to void your bladder, but it's not pleasent. If you have trouble voiding, sounds like you need to look for something more permanant, like surgery. But talk to another urologist if your corrent one is not helping. Good Luck. .....Paul Martin |

If you have an enlarged prostate I doubt you could get a Foley in with out pain. I was swollen up so bad i could barely get any urine out. That was years ago. I would consult a Urologist about your problem. |
